Celebrate your Back to Back Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins by participating in the fifth annual Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk presented by Highmark on October 15, 2017. The unique 6.6K distance (4.1 miles) pays tribute to Pittsburgh Penguins great Mario Lemieux, and proceeds from the event benefit two local Pittsburgh charities; the Mario Lemieux Foundation and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.
FAQs – HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The 6.6K Run and 3.3K Family Walk will begin and end at PPG Paints Arena. Participants in the 6.6K Run event are permitted to walk, but must maintain a 20-minute mile pace. A 3.3K Family Walk (2.05 miles) will also be offered to individuals and groups of four.
Included with 6.6K and 3.3K Registration:
- Long-sleeve tech shirt (men’s, women’s and youth sizes available)
- Virtual gift bag
- Custom finishing medal
The 6.6K is a chip-timed event.
STROLLERS: Children ages five (5) and under in a stroller are permitted free of charge for either the 6.6K or the 3.3K Family Walk. Please provide the name of your child when you register. A shirt will not be provided. For the 6.6K, the child’s name must be provided through registration of an adult runner. The child must stay in the stroller the entire length of the race, and the stroller must be pushed by an adult guardian. Strollers will start at the back of the field. For the 3.3K Family Walk, the child’s name must be provided through registration of an adult walker.
PETS: Pets are permitted to participate in the 3.3K Family Walk only. Pets are not permitted to participate in the 6.6K event. For the 3.3K Walk only: dogs must have current vaccinations, be safe to bring in public and be leashed at all times. No retractable leashes please. Owners must clean up after their dogs. And, if your dog is in heat, please leave her at home. Become a 6.6K or 3.3K Walk Fundraiser to win unique Penguins prizes and raise funds for the Mario Lemieux Foundation and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. The Top 3 Overall Fundraisers, based on fundraising totals on RunSignUp at 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, October 8, will each receive: Two Club Tickets to the Penguins/Sabres Game December 2, 2017 at PPG Paints Arena and a personalized autographed jersey from Mario Lemieux
Participants are encouraged to join the Pittsburgh Penguins Fundraising Team!
All fundraisers who commit to raising a minimum of $166 will receive:
- Limited-Edition and Individually-Numbered Pittsburgh Penguins Back-to-Back Stanley Cup Champions 10″ Collectors Tray by Wendell August Forge – made exclusively for the 2017 Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk presented by Highmark
- Fundraiser Bracelet
- Custom Fundraiser Race Bib
Fundraisers who raise additional funds will be eligible for the following prizes (in addition to the minimum prizes listed above):
- Raise $500 to receive: Pittsburgh Penguins Coaches Duffle Bag
- Raise $1,000 to receive: Mario Lemieux, Phil Kessel or Kris Letang Autographed Pittsburgh Penguins Jersey (randomly selected)
- Raise $2,500 or more to receive: Limited-Edition and Individually-Numbered Pittsburgh Penguins Back-to-Back Stanley Cup Champions 10″ Collectors Tray by Wendell August Forge signed by Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin (randomly selected)
Both 6.6K and 3.3K participants are encouraged to fundraise!
If you register as a “3.3K Family of Four” and choose to fundraise, only your team captain will be registered as an official fundraiser and be eligible for the fundraising prizes. Please contact email@example.com to register the other three walkers as fundraisers.
By joining a fundraising team, you have committed to raising a minimum of $166. If you have not raised this minimum amount by October 8, 2017 at 11:59 PM EST, you will not receive your fundraising prize package at packet pick-up.
Please note your race registration is separate from this fundraising commitment.
